TRAFFIC ADVISORY – FULL CLOSURE ON FARRINGTON HIGHWAY WESTBOUND
AT MAIPALAOA BRIDGE

Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) will be utilizing a full closure of Farrington Highway in the westbound direction between Maipalaoa Road and Manununu Street on the weekdays, starting from MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2022, THROUGH WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. During the closure hours, traffic will be contraflowed in the eastbound lanes allowing for one lane open in each direction.

The Maipalaoa Bridge Replacement project will affect the traffic flow through the area and will cause delays throughout the duration of the work.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY – H-1 FREEWAY WESTBOUND

AIRPORT OFF-RAMP CLOSURE 

The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), Highways Division, will be conducting full nightly closures of the westbound off-ramp, from the H-1 Freeway towards the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL Airport), starting on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2022, THROUGH THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., SUNDAYS THROUGH THURSDAYS ONLY.  During the closure, traffic will be detoured onto Nimitz Highway, where access to the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL Airport) is available. TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

Eastbound:   No detour. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kalihi Transit Center/Middle, left Middle to Middle/Kamehameha, right Kamehameha, onto Nimitz, left Rodgers, right Aolele, veer left to take ramp for Airport Upper Level, proceed to Inter-Island stop, and then resume the regular route.

 


HONOLULU CENTURY BIKE RIDE 

The HONOLULU CENTURY BIKE RIDE will be held on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2022, starting at 5:00 a.m.  Approximately 2,000 participants are expected.  Monsarrat Avenue will be closed between Kalakaua and Paki for the start of the race.  Routes that terminate on Monsarrat will be detoured from 5:00 a.m. to approximately 8:15 a.m.  No other detours will be necessary.  The entire ride is expected to be completed by 5:00 p.m.

AFFECTED AREA:

The ride will start at Kapiolani Park, proceed through Diamond Head, Hawaii Kai, and along the Windward Coast to Swanzy Beach Park.  Riders will return along the same route to the finish point at Kapiolani Park

ALOHA FESTIVALS FLORAL PARADE  

The ALOHA FESTIVALS FLORAL PARADE will be held on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2022.  The parade will commence at 9:00 a.m. at the ewa end of Ala Moana Park and proceed through Waikiki to Kapiolani Park. TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.  Roads will be opened progressively as the procession moves along the parade route. The event is expected to have 3,000 participants.

CRANE LIFT – ST. FRANCIS MEDICAL CENTER

 

HAWAIIAN CRANE & RIGGING will be conducting a crane lift of hospital equipment for St. Francis Medical Center.  The bus stop located at Liliha Street / opposite Halapia Place (Stop #113), will be closed on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Passengers may board buses at the portable placed 200 feet prior to the stop.

The CORAL SEA TRIATHLON will be held on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2022, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.  This event will consist of 100 participants, starting from USCG Barbers Point heading westbound on Coral Sea Road, onto Roosevelt Avenue, proceed through Saratoga Road and to return back on the same route to ending point at USCG Barbers Point.  Throughout the duration of this event, there will be no lane closures.

There will be ongoing rail work to the Pearl Harbor Rail Station, and Kamehameha Highway will be closed in both directions from Center Drive to Radford Drive.  The closure will be starting on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2022, THROUGH THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2022, (Mondays through Fridays), from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.  TheBus will service all stops along the detour route.

FARRINGTON HIGHWAY RESURFACING PROJECT 

GRACE PACIFIC LLC, will be conducting a resurfacing project for the State on Farrington Highway. The eastbound curb lane on Farrington Highway will be closed from Kahe Power Plant to Kalaeloa Boulevard. Therefore, the ‘EXIT 1A ‘CAMPBELL INDUSTRIAL PARK / BARBERS POINT HARBOR’ will be closed on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2022, from 7:00 p.m. to 4:15 a.m.  All eastbound traffic will be detoured onto ‘EXIT 1B “MAKAKILO / KAPOLEI / KALAELOA”. TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

Traffic Advisories – High School Homecoming Parades

 

Several public high school homecoming parades will be held during the month of September.  These parades will travel along City bus routes which may impact bus operations.  

 

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2022

 

MOANALUA HIGH SCHOOL STARTING AT 3:00 P.M.

Six hundred marchers, ten vehicles, one float, and a band are expected to participate.  The parade will start at MHS student parking lot, proceed onto Ala Ilima, right Ala Nanala, right Likini, right Ala Napunani, and end at MHS student parking lot.

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2022

 

MILILANI HIGH SCHOOL STARTING AT 9:00 A.M.

Four hundred marchers, twelve vehicles, four floats, and a band are expected to participate.  The parade will start at the Mililani Town Center parking lot between KFC and Taco Bell, and proceed onto Makaimoimo, right Meheula, left Hookelewaa, right Kipapa, left Kuahelani, right Moenamanu, left Kipapa, and end at Mililani High School Stadium.

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2022

 

NANAKULI HIGH & INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL STARTING AT 4:00 P.M.

One hundred marchers, ten vehicles, four mini floats, and a band are expected to participate.  The parade will start at 89-235 Pua Ave, left onto Nanakuli Ave., mauka on Nanakuli Ave., ending at 89-980 Nanakuli Ave., NH&IS parking lot.

 

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2022

 

WAIALUA HIGH & INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL STARTING AT 3:30 P.M.

Seven hundred marchers, twenty vehicles, ten floats, and two bands are expected to participate.  The vehicles will start at the school parking lot, proceed onto Farrington Hwy., left Kaukonahua, through Haleiwa Town, left Haleiwa Beach Rd., and right Waialua Beach Rd. The marchers will join the vehicles at the Waialua Recreation Center and proceed together onto Goodale, right Farrington Hwy., and end at the school gym.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2022

 

RADFORD HIGH SCHOOL STARTING AT 4:00 P.M.

Three hundred marchers, twelve vehicles, one float, and a band are expected to participate.  The parade will start at Radford High School parking lot; proceed onto Ala Oli St., left Haloa, right Molina, left Epukane St., left Hakupapa, left Haloa Dr., right Ala Oli St., and end at the school parking lot.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY – FARRINGTON HIGHWAY DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS

INTEGRATED CONSTRUCTION, INC will be conducting work to install drainage improvements along Farrington Highway, between Waiawa Road and Acacia Road for the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., starting on MONDAY, JUNE 13, 2022, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  This drainage improvement project will affect the traffic flow through the area and will cause delays throughout the duration of the work.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY – H-1 FREEWAY ON-RAMP CLOSURE FROM HONOLULU AIRPORT

The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), Highways Division, will be conducting full nightly closures of the westbound and eastbound on-ramps from the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL Airport) to the H-1 Freeway, starting on SATURDAY, MAY 21, 2022, UNTIL FURHTER NOTICE. During the closure, traffic will be detoured onto Paiea Street and to Nimitz Highway, where they may access the H-1 Freeway. TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

ADVISORY – UTILITY WORK ON ALAKEA STREET

Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc. will be closing a portion of Alakea Street between Hotel Street and Beretania Street for utility connections to a new building, starting on SUNDAY, APRIL 17, 2022, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, from 7:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., Sunday to Thursday.  During the utility connections, three lanes of Alakea Street will be closed.
